Managing and Issuing Discount Codes

Giving your Customers a percentage or dollar discount at checkout

This article is for Hosts who want to create and manage discount codes for their Spaces.

Discount codes allow you to reduce booking costs for individual Customers without altering your standard Space rates.

Types of Discount Codes

SpacetoCo offers three types of discount codes:

  • Hourly Rate ($): Applies a dollar discount to the Space's hourly rate, multiplied by the number of booked time slots.
  • Whole Booking Value ($): Applies a flat dollar discount to the total booking value, including Additional Items and extra charges.
  • Whole Booking Percentage (%): Applies a percentage discount to the total booking value, with an option to include or exclude Additional Items and extra charges.


Excluding Additional Items from Percentage Discounts

When creating a Whole Booking Percentage (%) code, you can use the Ignore Items/Charges toggle switch.

  • Toggle Off: The percentage discount applies to the total booking amount, including any Additional Items or extra charges.
  • Toggle On: The percentage discount applies only to the Space hire fee and ignores any Additional Items or extra charges.


How to Create and Manage Discount Codes

Go to your Discount Codes Dashboard to create, edit, or delete codes. You can also do this within an individual space set-up. 

Note: Once a discount code has been used, its financial values cannot be edited. You can still update which Spaces the code applies to or disable the code to prevent future use.


Sharing and Using Discount Codes

Share the generated code directly with your Hirer to apply at checkout. You can use discount codes for:

  • Promotions: Seasonal or time-limited marketing campaigns.
  • Community rates: Discounted rates for non-profit or community groups.
  • Booking incentives: Offers sent via SpacetoCo Messages to convert enquiries into bookings.

 

Discount codes are unique to your listed Spaces and appear in booking notification emails and dashboard summaries.


Additional Information

  • Customers can only apply one discount code per checkout.
  • Discount codes are private and only visible to Customers if you share them.
  • You can share codes via SpacetoCo Messages, Booking Questions, list them in your Space description, or publish them on social media.
